Safety first

If You Smell Gas

Do not turn on the stove, any light switch or use your phone inside. Leave the house, then call 911 and DTE’s Gas Leak Hotline at 800-947-5000 from outside. Call us only after DTE says it is safe. Gas line and venting work in Michigan falls under state mechanical licensing, so ask who holds that license before anyone works on a gas line.

Plan ahead

Thanksgiving Is the Busiest Week for Ovens

Detroit holds the 100th America’s Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and a lot of turkeys go in the oven the same morning. If your oven runs hot or cold, takes too long to preheat, or the igniter is slow, book a repair in early November instead of the week of the holiday.

Repair or replace

Is Your Oven Worth Repairing?

Ranges last a long time. The National Association of Home Builders puts a gas range at up to 15 years. Igniters, elements, sensors, switches and door locks are usually worth repairing. A failed control board on an older range is the main case where replacing can make more sense. Read the repair or replace guide.

We repair Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG, KitchenAid, Maytag, Bosch, Kenmore and more. High-end ranges such as Wolf, Thermador and Viking: ask when you call. See all brands.

We cover every Detroit neighborhood, plus Hamtramck and Highland Park: Downtown, Midtown and Corktown, Central Detroit, the Lower East Side and Far East Side, the West Side, Northwest Detroit, Southwest Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park.

FAQ

Questions Detroit customers ask

Why won’t my gas oven heat?

The most common cause is a weak hot surface igniter. It still glows, but not hot enough to open the gas valve, so the oven never lights. Replacing the igniter fixes most of these calls.

Why is my oven door locked after self-clean?

The door stays locked until the oven cools. If it is still locked once cool, turning the breaker off for a few minutes often resets it. If not, the lock motor, a switch or the control has failed.

Why won’t my gas burner light?

Usually the igniter or burner is wet or dirty, or the burner cap is not seated right. Let it dry and seat the cap. If it still only clicks, the igniter or spark module may need replacing.

Do you repair wall ovens and slide-in ranges?

Yes, along with freestanding gas, electric and dual-fuel ranges.
